When are pups ready to go to their new homes?
Pups usually go home between 8 - 12 weeks, when they have been weaned and we are satisfied that they are ready in terms of their early neurological stimulation, socialisation, initial crate training and initial toilet training. These last three will need to be completed in their new homes.
What do pups come home with?
NZ Dogs registration, microchipped, up to date with vaccinations, de-flead and dewormed, a puppy pack and puppy prep information for a smooth transition, breeder support for the life of the dog.
Why is it difficult to find a Bernese Mountain Dog in NZ?
Bernese are rare in NZ and litters are bred occasionally with our dog's health in mind. Owning a bernese is a significant commitment of time and money and we have this in the forefront of our minds when selecting a home for our dogs. All our dogs deserve to have their needs met, lead a healthy life and have one forever home. We want to avoid potential risks of our dogs needing to be rehomed in the future. Bernese are extremely loyal and being rehomed can be traumatic for them. I myself loved bernese for 17 years and had to be very patient before I was in a position to own one. You may not be in a position to give a bernese the home they require now but that doesn't mean you can't make the changes necessary to own one, one day. I am an approachable person and happy to chat with potential owners more about this.
Do you offer pups to breeding or show homes?
Currently our pups are not offered with breeding rights and suitable for pet homes only. Our dogs are bred from champion lines and some may be suitable for showing but we cant guarantee this for any pup as we primarily breed and raise family dogs
Do you take your dogs back?
In the unlikely event that one of our dogs should need to be re-homed, we will always take them back, no judgement, no questions asked.
